Water Filter Canister Leaking

Shut off the water after filter if possible.

Water filter canister leaking. Some top mounted valve sand filters have a removable cap instead this is a moderately difficult repair. Unscrew the filter housing that is leaking. I m suppose to put a oil or grease on the seal but i can t remember what to put on it so it will seal correctly. Been there done that got the t shirt.

In detail with images shut off the water supply going to the leaking water filter by turning a ball valve lever 1 4 turn 90 degrees.
